InqScribe and .NET 8

InqScribe's support for on-device transcription requires .NET 8 on Windows.

If you don't currently have .NET 8, it may be downloaded and installed for free from Microsoft. (macOS users do not need to install .NET.)

Please note that having .NET 9 or 10 installed does not meet InqScribe's requirements. You will need to install .NET Core 8 alongside any later versions that might also be installed.

Microsoft's page to download and install .NET 8 is here. It's a pretty busy page, and the many different variants of .NET can make it confusing to navigate. You will want to download the Windows installer for .NET Runtime. There are separate installers depending on whether your computer uses an Intel CPU or an ARM CPU.

Once you have installed .NET 8, restart InqScribe and you should be good to go!
