We believe that you have a right to privacy when using our website and apps.
To the extent that we can offer you products and services without collecting your data, we do. In cases where we do collect data, we give you the right to opt-out whenever possible.
Here are details about how our website and apps handle user data:
Periodically, the InqScribe app checks with our servers to find out if there is a newer version of the app available for update. No identifiable user information is collected.
Version update requests send us the following information.
To opt-out of version checking, open the InqScribe app's Preferences pane and uncheck "Automatically Check for Updates."
We offer a time-limited license for prospective customers to try out the InqScribe app before purchasing it. Customers may request a trial license by submitting a form on our website. By submitting the trial form, you agree to provide the information contained in that form to Inquirium. After the trial period, we retain only the information necessary to prevent abuse of our trial license policy.
To opt-out of license record storage, contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Note that if you choose to have your data removed from our records, you will lose the ability to have us resend you lost license information and the ability to receive upgrade discounts.
If the InqScribe app crashes, you have the option of sending a bug report that provides us with technical information to help troubleshoot problems. In the bug report window, you have the option of including system information, which may contain details such as operating system, available RAM, USB connected devices, and app settings. Note that your app settings may include custom Snippet text.
Users of our Labs website may voluntarily upload InqScribe transcript files in order to convert them to alternate transcript formats. Our servers process information within the uploaded transcripts in order to convert their format and provide a downloadable file. None of this information is stored on our servers.
Our website uses standard logging, which may include IP addresses, to keep servers running smoothly. The logs are rotated regularly and deleted within a few days.
The InqScribe website uses anonymized Google Analytics tacking to inform improvements for future visitors. You may opt out of Google Analytics cookies by visiting the "Cookies" link at the bottom of any page on our website.
The InqScribe website also relies on cookies to launch a special customer support contact form that provides just-in-time recommendations from our knowledge base. Because our knowledge base is hosted by a third-party provider, UserVoice, we cannot disable this cookie and it is a necessary part of our website's functionality.
The InqScribe app runs locally on your computer. When you save an InqScribe transcript, it is saved as a local file in the location you specify. Transcript files include the content you type, timecodes, and file path information to reference your media file. The InqScribe app does not save copies of your audio or video content.
The InqScribe Labs website does allow you to upload transcripts for conversion to alternate formats, but we don't save them anywhere.
We respect your right to make choices about the ways we collect and use information about you. Here is a summary of the ways you can opt out of the data collection practices described above.
At any time, you can disable version checking via the app's preferences. If you chose to disable version checking, the app will not automatically notify you when there is a new version available. To opt-out of version checking, open the InqScribe app's Preferences pane and uncheck "Automatically Check for Updates."
At any time, you can request that we delete the personal data we retain. If you choose to have your data removed from our records, you will lose the ability to have us resend you lost license information and the ability to receive upgrade discounts. To opt-out of license record storage, contact email@example.com.
When you first visit our website, we display a banner where you may opt-out of Google Analytics cookies. If you change your mind later, click the “Cookies” link at the bottom of any page on our site to display the banner and make a new selection.
At any time, you may unsubscribe from our mailing list by using the unsubscribe link in the footer of any marketing announcement email you receive from us, or via the MailChimp-hosted list unsubscribe page. We take user privacy seriously. If anything is unclear, we're more than happy to discuss our data practices and policies with you. Please contact email@example.com if you have any questions or feedback.
