InqScribe Telemetry Policy

Last updated: Sept 29, 2025. Applies to InqScribe 3.

What is Telemetry?

Telemetry refers to data about your use of InqScribe that is transmitted from your computer to our servers. Data is only transmitted if you consent; there is a preference within InqScribe that controls whether telemetry is enabled or not.

Telemetry Data is Anonymous

All data sent to our servers is anonymized. There is no way that we can track any telemetry data back to you. We do not store email addresses, names, IP addresses, license codes, or any other means of user identification with telemetry data.

What Data Do We Collect?

We collect data about things that happen while using InqScribe. Examples of events that trigger telemetry include:

In all of these cases, we will never transmit the contents of your files. Your transcripts and the content of your audio and video files belong to you and never leave your computer.

What we do collect is metadata that helps us look broadly at how InqScribe is used. Examples include:

We store this data anonymously. This prevents us from being able to link data to individuals. But it does allow us to look for trends across all of our users.

What We Do with Data

Telemetry data, once aggregated, helps us to understand how our users as a whole are using InqScribe. We can answer questions like "how many users are still using Windows 10?", "what's the median length of audio files that get transcribed with Whisper?" or "are any users exporting their transcripts to WebVTT?"

Answers to questions like these inform and prioritize new feature development for InqScribe.

We do not and will not sell telemetry data.
